Have you been in a situation where you knew the right thing to do, but dreaded doing it? Maybe it was ending a specific relationship. Maybe it was having a difficult conversation with a boss. Maybe it was enforcing a punishment on a misbehaving child. In those situations, we often times let the fear of confrontation crush us. Our stomachs get queasy and our brains get scattered. We need help. We need a prayer to God for strength.
I may be describing your situation right now. Each time you think about it, you get fearful. Being paralyzed by the situation only makes things worse. The problem won’t go away. It won’t solve itself. All it will do is become deeper and more severe. You need the strength to do what you know you need to do.
Here is a prayer to God for strength:
All powerful God, please give me strength. Give me the strength and courage needed to do the tasks in front of me. Be with me God. Clear my mind so I can think clearly and speak wisdom. Have your hand on my shoulder as I engage others so I can be confident and have the interaction end well. Be with the other people who cross my path, so that they will be compassionate and helpful. Thank you for your wisdom. Thank you for your guidance. God, please give me the strength to do what I need to do and be with me. I know all things are in your hands, and I want to work for your glory. In your Son’s name I ask these things, amen.
Remember, God uses all things in His plan for His glory. He has given us the Bible, which shows how many people have approached similar problems. Some of them were wise, some were unwise. But even the unwise were used to teach lessons of correction or repentance.
Hopefully you have wise people around you giving you instructions. Even if that’s not true, many times we know the right answers. Pray that prayer and ask for God’s help. He will be with you and give you strength.
