A Prayer for Salvation

If I asked you to think about something that left a legacy, what comes to mind? How about if I asked about something that stands the test of time? What things do you think of when told to envision something that changed the course of time?

I’ll bet those three questions bring up very different images. You might think of a famous person. It could be a person from history, or maybe even a mentor or family member who made an impact on you. You might think of a famous structure, like the Louvre museum, that is iconic in showing artifacts of culture, art, and history. You might think of a structure like the Roman Colosseum, which stands to this day. You may even think of a living, breathing, growing tree many feet in diameter. You may even think of a famous event, like a war, or founding of a country. Had things gone differently, our entire culture would be affected.

What if I told you that these things are all the same? What if I said they’re insignificant? What if I said that they are still so fragile that in due time they will all rot and be forgotten about?
At some point, we will face eternity. ETERNITY.

Eternity is something our understanding of science and math can’t even compute. It is beyond infinity, something that make our entire existence small in comparison. James 4:14 says that our lives are like vapor, appearing and then soon vanishing away. Think about that. Every hour we work, every object we buy, and every word we speak is nothing but a vapor in the eyes of eternity.

There is only one thing that will matter in terms of eternity – your salvation. Your salvation is the single thing that can change your eternity. It’s one decision that can affect your soul beyond your understanding. No matter what else you earn, build, create, or record, only your salvation will matter when your life is claimed and heaven comes.

The best news is that you can make a decision that will affect eternity. You have the power right now to change your eternal address from ‘hell’ to ‘Heaven’. All you have to do is pray this prayer of salvation:

Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for sending your son Jesus to Earth. He lived the life I could not live and he died to pay for my sins. Today I confess that Jesus is Lord, and I believe in my heart that you raised him from the grave. Please forgive me from where I’ve sinned and come into my heart to be my personal Lord and Savior. Amen.

If you prayed that prayer and believe that truth, you have truly made a decision that will matter in 10 moments, 10 years, even 10,000 years. Blessed be the name of the Lord.
